Bait digging Friday and Saturday as the lug are so sparse at the moment around here. Great quality black blow lug though. Perfect for a cod or two I thought. Then just to make sure I bought some unwashed squid and some of their larger cousins, the Illex.

Travelled down river to a well known cod mark for the ebb using 10/0 & 6/0 fixed pennel rigs: Result whiting and dogs. Moved back up river and fished south side on the flood: Result whiting and dogs.

Hey ho, it was good to be out cod fishing on a lovely day anyway. Cod catching is clearly still another matter. Maybe next month?
