Had 3 trips in the last 24 hours in the hope of bolstering my hunt points early, first was a couple hours at my local spot after a 5brd Rockling, that wasn't to be but a first cast Pollock and Pouting went on the board, was totally dead after that, not even a tiny Whiting bite.
Next morning, up early and on to the breakwater, target was Mackerel, Sardine or a Herring, conditions wasn't ideal with waves coming over the top of the breakwater! in the North East wind.
Found my mate half way along already fishing the inside so hunkered down next to him and started on catching Mackerel, it didn't take long to find them so another ticked of the list, managed 2 Sardines in amongst the loads of Mackerel but no Herrings for me, my mate did have one but that was just as it started to get light so guess I've got to get up again early for one!
In the evening I pop down the Salcombe estuary in the hope of a Flounder, was very strange when I got on the beach, no wind, not cold, water fairly flat, nothing like the mornings trip. Rods out and within 5 mins was getting little nibbles, sat on me hands as long as I could before bringing in a surprise Dab, not had one of these for couple years now. As dusk got a bit darker, I had a proper bite which came from a nice sized schoolie, this was followed by several more, had 8 in the total with only one nearly touching 42cm but in the middle of the Bass pulling experience I had my quarry, a Flounder had given a nice bite and hardly any fight on the way in, was very pleased with this on tho and even more pleased with the last fish of the day, which was another Flounder just tipping the 1 lb mark.
A busy 24 hours with a few fish under my belt, hopefully when the winds ease there be few more wanting to have their photo taken by me.
