All ready to go and itching now with my new gear. I have to delay my actual fishing because of the weather ( 2m plus waves ) ideal time to have some practice casts in the field opposite and get used to casting a multi again ? I am going down on Friday to recce some rocky marks though and may take my lure rod and chance a cast or two from a safe position if I can find one. Will do a report and possibly take a few snaps of the area. Not the beach though it runs the same all the way to Brittany :D

What multi do you have?

I have bought a Daiwa 7ht and hope I will be able to cast with it. I will be starting with a very cautious approach and hopefully be able to make a distance which puts me where the fish are. Weather is terrible here at the moment so even practice is not on!

Dont be disappointed if your distance is well down from what you normally get. :(

Like all things that are based heavily on technique those who have good technique make it look simple. Shooting is the same some shooters look as though they are taking an age to shoot a target... they are not but have such good technique they do not rush their shot and it looks so slow and easy. I have watched a few John Holden videos and he suggests, as you say, an off the ground easy cast is plenty good enough to fish with. I will be giving it my best because I am sure it is not as easy as he makes it look;

something I want to practice more this year . swear my distance has gone down somehow I used to absolutely fly baits out about 120 130 but feel like struggle to hit 100 baited up now lol

When the weather settles down, a lot of fish are in the 3rd/4th wave so not always needed to cast to the horizon. practice in the daytime and thumb the spool to slow down just before the weight hits the water. Jobs a good un (y)
