Been suffering with covid, so forced myself to get out last week. Took ages to set up as was feeling extremely out of breath. First rod went out, two minutes later line dropped on the sand and a male thornie around 5lb was landed, a good start. Re baited, re cast and managed to get a second rod in the water. Just as I'd sat down on my box my first rod pulls over and another thornie about 5lb is landed. As I'm playing this fish my second rod dropped slack, starting to feel tired now! Only been fishing around 30 minutes as well. Another thornie similar stamp 5lb ish. Took a 10 minute breather, then got both rods back out. Again just sat down, rid tip goes over and another thornie around 6lb this time I dragged into a gully. Just as I'm about to deal with this fish I noticed my line on my other rod flying off down tide. As I caught up with this fish, the fight felt different, just like a decent conger, so I really bullied this fish. However upon reaching the shallow water a rather large bass pops up and decided it didn't like the shallows very much! The fish charged out of the shallows, flat rodding me in the process, so lucky it didn't snap my line, good job I had 28lb mainline. I've never had a fight like that from a bass before, if I'd lost it I'd sworn it was a big eel. After a quick weigh the fish was released, she went 11lb9oz. Took me a good 20 minutes before I could get a rod back in the water and as a bonus the ray on the other rod had managed to unhook itself and swim off. As for the rest of the session? It finished just like it began, in just over three hours fishing the final tally was....
6 x thornbacks (5 to 7lb)
3 x congers (7 to 9lb)
Bass 11lb9oz

My fishing buddy next to me couldn't buy a bite, but managed to bag himself a thornie on the last cast. Struggled to walk back to the car after, still getting out of breath very easily. Still, it was very worth it 😊
