Turned up in the carpark and started to unpack every thing only to find id left my bib and brace at home!! bugger, the forecast was to hit 0 later on as well, dragged all the stuff to my chosen spot and set up a good bit away from the waters edge, thinking that the walk up and down casting will warm me up a bit, and boy did it.
Nothing came out during daylight but as soon as it started to get dimpsy, a slack line bite that turned in to a nice Dogfish, baits out again, then the onslaught began, Whiting, in plague proportions, they hit every bait and trace, 1s, 2s, 3s, there was times id cast and the rod was going before I could get to the tripod. Was like this for hour and half till high water, I was sweating and very glad I forgot my bottoms, tho soon as high tide come it all stopped dead.
Then with the ebb starting, just the odd small Whiting coming-out and none of the larger ones I was having before.
I gave it a couple of hours after high and bites had basically dried up by then, so packed up and took my knackered self back to scrape the ice of the car which surprised me from how warm I was. A hectic evening and a mistake that turned good.

Mental fishing, well done. I wonder of it is worth livebaiting or is there so much food in the water the predators are fat and full?

I did wonder that but as I was after a slug to give me a yearly total of40 speices, I stuck with the small baits. But there was so many fish around I doubt if a predator would notice the bait, unless it was nobbled a bit.
