Fished 4.30 until 10.30. A big shoal of Mackerel had just been through, to judge from the whitebait on the beach. In daylight I sent two rods out for Plaice, and set up some feathers on a third just in case they came back. I thought I could livebait with it later on when I caught the inevitable pout. Daylight turned into dusk, the fishing only enlivened by the appearance of a naked sun worshipper asking me how I had done. He put Chalton's baked mahogany into perspective. Switched to sole traces, and the Easterly wind got stronger and stronger, until it stopped being fun, so I packed up.
On the plus side nothing blew away, no crack-offs, no crossed lines and a beautiful sunset. And given that I was fishless, and hadn't opened my squid or my sandeels, I was allowed to sit downstairs a while when I got back.
It'll get better.
