£100 for me wouldn't be a surfblaster MK2, they used to be able to be had for £70, for the money they do have excellent line lay.

But, they are no good for rough ground. The spool wobbles all over the shop under load. You have to pump and wind, so any mixed ground or rough ground marks when need a fish cranking in over the rough is a no go. They aren't that light either considering.

I'd look at Penn battle 3 if in budget. Or battle 2 if not.  They do a long cast model if you dont mind a plastic body over a metal one. But they are tough reels, my mate has the battle II long cast and they survive our Bristol channel abuse well.

A bit extra on the budget (£140 to £150) gets you a spinfisher vi long cast, tough reel with a metal body. Also good waterproofing against sea water.

Daiwa BG another good option for the heavy duty end of the scale and should be around £100.

Or Shimano Aerlex 10000, with a discount code can on occasion be had for £63, otherwise £70.

Used to be able to get the Shimano Ultegra for £100, no more though thanks to covid and stock levels being awful for everything.

Plenty to choose from :p
