So my 2 nd boat trip this week arfter my 13 hrs of hauling up the Bristol Channel this time the nice easy fishing waters of Lyme bay my first boat comp with my club 3 hooks one rod 5 of each species no matter the size we were greeted with a stunning January sunrise
The boat in the picture was the other boat in the comp and altho it’s an individuals comp there is a bit of skipper rivalry going on aswell.
We started drifting the rough ground with ballens Cuckoos pout and poor cod our targets I was first in with a stunning cuckoo and quickly followed it up with 2 more on Successive drops then I had 2 ballens and anther 2 coukoos that was my 5 orso snagged 4 Chucky pout arfter drifting near the pout hole ??around peeps were snagging much the altho couple of lads had some nice reef pollock on there flyers
We then anchored up on a patch of rough and I was soon in to my target of dogs 3 on the bounce then something a bit heavier up popped a Huss around the 4 pound mark guys around me were snagging conger few wrasse and more dogs then we moved off to try for whiteing and rays we were soon into more dogs then I had a bit of a different bite and pulled up the only ray of the day a small but petty thorn back then I started to snag a few whitening along with the dogs a couple of lads had smooth hounds and finally me mates young lad who had been steadily bringing in a few fish snagged a decent scad and that was are lot a buetiful day out of Lyme 11 species caught to the boat not bad for January oh and I came 2 nd out of 12 so none to shabby for my first crack at it give boats a rest now I think for a bit club comp at chisel sat so need to story out my beach gear this week cheers ma butes ps totally forget to bring my tsf species card although whould have only added Cuckoos to it so not the end of the world ???
