So as I Previously show on another post went out on our monthly boat comp today off beer in Stu pikes boat orca south eastly winds ment it was gonna be a tad lumpy but fishable started off with a go on the feathers for mackerel just off beer head my mate was straight into one then so was I then he had a grey gurnard then so did I no else managed a fish so off we went to drift the reefs I was quickly into the flow of things and bagged up on Cuckoo wrasse pout and a Ballen and a poor cod ( the comp works that you are aloud to catch 5 of each species and arfter you’ve had your 5 you don’t gain points for that species any size counts ) so as I’d bagged up on the two predominant species and the ballens didn’t seem to be playing I went pollocking useing a 4 inch redgill the killer lure in Lyme bay ten minutes into the next drift I had a savage take and lots of crash dive ing resulted in a pristine reef pollock around the 4 lb mark got him in dropped down again and had another probably round the 3 and a half mark happy days the tide soon dropped and we headed out on the clean ground at Anchor to get our 5 whiteing soon we were all bagging up when one of the lads hit something a bit bigger all the way saying it was a ray mainly thornbacks out here then I saw it wasn’t a ray but a turbot ??safely boated it weighed around 2 lb but a Rare catch and a good feed cracking fish once we had all our whiteing we headed back into the rough to try for a cod i managed another pout and another Ballen but nothing else doing so we Anchored up on some mixed ground for a crack at dogs rays conger and Huss for the last hr well few congers come in and I got shitmixed by something big probably a blonde but it come off time was up so back in a nice days fishing with 10 different species in our bout the turbo being the highlight couple of new species for my hunt the poor cod Cuckoo and the grey gurnard which I forgot to photograph ?‍♂️ But not bad for April early macs good sign but the blooms thick inshore ?? oh yeah I was first in the comp out of eleven fishing it in the 2 boats si my first boat win happy with that ??? Handy turbo! Redgills rock after all these years!
There the go to lure off ere mate and probably account for 80 percent of the pollock caught off here big lures just don’t seem to cut the mustard on the Lyme bay reefs altho they still catch fish a solid pink hill is tops every time altho I’m starting to get a thing for slow jigs now but didn’t have the right tides for them today

Nice day out by the sounds of it.
Well done ?
