This is a bit of a long shot I think.

I have a 25/30 year old Silstar R721 fixed spool reel that I've dug out from the bottom of the tackle cupboard. It's probably not been used for at least 20 years.
The bail arm roller is dumper trucked. It's very corroded and has a big crack in it.

Given that I rarely use a fixed spool and it was a budget reel to start with, is there anyway I can replace the roller, maybe even with a bearing?

I'm quite happy to do away with the bail arm wire and just use the roller if necessary.
Any suggestions??

I think you're right grinner.

I just want the option of FS in my tackle cupboard (mainly for visitors who wouldn't be able to handle a multi).
This particular reel is pretty robust other than the roller, seems a shame to bin it but
maybe I should do as you say and buy new.

I will have a look at knocking something up on my lathe. (Moving house very soon so it's packed away and not available atm).
It was a budget reel so I'm not inclined to spend a fortune on it.

Blacdog is your man for reel spares
Blakdog is good, or Quentin Millman:

Or, as @grinner said, buy a new one. The new Mitchell reels are OK for the money (made by the same company as Penn) - I've got one. The 'R' series are a bit cheap & cheerful & freshwater I think, but the RZ surf reels are quite good. Depends what you want it for & what size reel you are looking at. Mitchell Blue Water RZ 8000 is only £30!

£30 for an 8000 size is probably less than repair Trampster.
The way forward I think, especially as I'll only have it for other people, mainly numpties, to use.

Agree. I bought an £80 Vertix reel to match my Vertix Conti rod, and the bail arm roller on that 'ucked up after about 6 sessions, so decided to buy a Penn Surfblaster. None new about due to lockdown last year & 2nd hand ones were fetching silly money, so bought a new Mitchell Blue Water RZ 9000 for £30! Nice reel for the money. I've since found a Surfblaster for £30 on Gumtree - good place to look for 2nd hand bits. Poor Guy that had the Surfblaster for sale has a sore arm, I almost bit it off! It had only been used once. ??
