South Coast Back to the big beach

So decided to start hitting chisel again last night so went up with a mate who’s been struggling to catch any thing at all and before last week had 6 blank sessions ina row . but he always seems to find fish when we partner up so arfter a chat with Pete on ere we rocked up at burton around 7 pm . Sea was flat and clear looked pucker for macs gar or scad my mate had a Mac then a small grey gurnard but I had nowt but a tiny ting in daylight ??‍( where are the Plegics ) night time was a different mater fish a cast with dogs decent sized pout and healthy straps all the way to high tide now not the fish we were arfter but one of those busy annoying but at least we are busy kids of nights did have one exciting moment when I thought I was bringing in a ray but turned out to be a decent dog and a massive spider crab that was wrapped up in some old line . So a nice way to get back up Chelsil and pleasd my mate had a busy sesh under his belt nothing great but plenty of fish ?

Whiting - regardless of size - back already is not a good sign?‍ Well done on getting some fish. Definitely seems like a difficult year for the usual summer species like mackerel and gar.

I don’t think they ever left tbh mate the water temp must still be low but I expect any day now the macs will arrive on masse same happens last year hardly any about then in July Seaton beach erumpted with huge Shouls of them for about a week you chould catch as many as you wanted along with scad bass and the odd shad then they they left again but the fishing improved big time hopping for the same this year ????????

Yes I shall be useing size 16 hooks …….tied to a size 6/0 live bait rig ???
