It was back to back sessions this week on the lures with me venturing out both Wednesday and Thursday night on the lures. The week though got of to a great start when on Sunday morning I purchased a single raffle number and low and behold Sunday evening that number came up in the random draw! ?
So Wednesday morning my shiny new toy arrived in the shape of the new Major Craft Seabass Custom!

So it would have been very rude not to have gone out and tested all 8’8” of the shiny new stick. First impressions of the rod is it’s a wonderful bit of kit and I’m really enjoying using it so far.........

Anyway, back to the fishing. It took about an hour of fishing to christen it with the first bass of the evening, nothing big but it took a liking to a SG Pencil lure in the chart/pearl ob. A short while after this and having changed to a patch 125 another firstly schoolie was beached. I didn’t have to wait much longer either for no3 of the evening and this time a little better, again the patch doing the damage.

Another 20min or so later another take out in the darkness produced schoolie no4, shook it off the hooks but still managed a cheeky pic as a mate phoned to see how I was getting on

Again, after no4 I didn’t have to wait too much longer for the next bit of interest in my lure. This time, unlike the previous takes I could tell instantly this was a better fish. The rod handled it with ease and after a brief struggle a beautifully conditioned Welsh silver lay in the shallows, it had nailed the patch from behind. I didn’t bother with weighing just a couple of quick pics and a quick measurement with her going 66cm before releasing.

Stunning condition and the new wand well christened now. ?

1364955

Buzzing after my best bass of the year I still managed to winkle out a 6th before the feeding fish switched off and again the patch doing the bizz.

1364956

As it quietened off I did manage one more hit that took a few yards of line off the reel but unfortunately after a couple of head shakes she was gone.

Not too shabby a session I was more than happy with my efforts and certainly with my biggest bass of the year so far. ?

Onto session two for the week......................

Great session there Kev ?

But why would an angling company actually call there rod ‘sea bass’ ? ?

Believe it or not it’s all down to the Japanese market and how they badge the rods. The rod is designed by anglers in this country but would have required solicitors etc from what ive seen and read to put just ‘Bass’ custom on the blank.
In Japan a bass rod is considered a freshwater rod hence Seabass on the saltwater models.
Lots of little facts that we don’t consider when we see the final product.

........ it’s a peach of a rod mind!

Great session Kevin ? and topped off with an absolute cracker ?.
