Hi gents
Tonight I had the pleasure of being joined on my sole hunt by Paul AKA Bluebird. We had baits in the water just after 6 pm. Paul started the ball rolling with a small one bearded rockling, quickly followed by a sole estimated to be 8/10 oz I had a small whiting , quickly followed by 2 dogs around 1 1/4 lb. Half past seven seen me land my quarry a sole just under a pound. the sole came on my experimental wire boom rigs, the thinking was to keep the bait on the bottom with the extra weight of the wire booms

I had a few more dogs including a double shot which as usuall I thought was something better . Paul not wishing to be out done landed a double shot of a decent size whitings. Paul decided to call it a day just before high water I had few more dogs and a decent whiting around 3/4 of a pound on my last cast . Not a great session both, but both of us hit our target species and Paul just loves being out in the fresh air.
Keep those lines tight gents and enjoy the coast

Nicely Nicely. In the last 6 sessions, I have caught many whiting, sole, rockling, and bass up to about 5lbs, mostly on Swansea Beach and some on Aberafan Beach and estuary. Most have been caught on Swansea Beach. I use a nylon Mortician rig with a 2-3oz weight on the end and a 1oz weight at the top which keeps the short snoods pinned to the bottom. Size 4 de-barbed inline circle hooks with my favourite lugworm bait seem most successful with the sole. Whiting can be more difficult to unhook than the other species. As a bonus, I have not hooked or caught any dogfish.
