Hi all! So, Friday was an absolute nightmare of a journey getting back to Herne Bay from Torbay, largely down to some Druids leaving a pile of Welsh rocks by the side of the A303 that everyone feels the need to gawp at on the way past!!
We eventually got home about 9pm and the kids were put straight to bed. By the time the camper was cleared up and everything put away etc, I was desperate to hit the beach and calm down!!
I got to my spot and set up for about midnight, dead on HW. A friend was already there and had landed two hounds already with the better of the pair going 10lbs on the nose. Encouraging!
I quickly got set up, one rod with live hardback (which I was quite surprised were still alive having been left in the fridge all week!) and the other rod was baited with Iceland’s finest frozen king prawn!
My first bite soon came and was a sprightly if not small hound of 3lbs 15oz on the prawn.
Shortly after and no.2 was a better size at 6lbs 9oz but tangled both my lines together and I wasted a lot of time sorting the mess out.
Meanwhile, my mate was bagging up, pulling in what seemed like fish after fish!
I lost the next one just a few yards out which was annoying as it felt a better fish but my 70lbs hook snood broke, I can only imagine it rubbed across a rock or something.
I did mange a better fish of exactly 9lbs by the end but the water was receding too much to continue and I was knackered.
My mate had 6 in the end including 2 doubles to 10lbs 9oz.
Nice to be home!!01290F01-2E45-4481-9867-C7204C3A1827.jpeg8FF4185F-48C1-4916-B256-C1C4BE4D8509.jpeg295C11B5-9A52-4C5A-8174-E971B7DB11FB.jpeg

Nice one to wind down on!

What do you get there once the hounds leave?
Most of my hometown is good for rays and bass. Whiting get to plague proportions through the winter months though.
Dogs and dabs are common too but occasionally you can get codling and bream and it can be a great place for sting ray (although I’ve yet to land one!)

Well done.
Ditch the crab and prawn baits and use ragworm. Chance of a stinger will greatly improve.
Oh, dont forget to take a decent sized towel to cover up the tail!

Hey! That’s not fair!!!!

I plan a trip for weeks, spend a fortune on bait, arrive six hours early and still catch diddly squat! You drive hours home from holiday, grab whatever bait is around and rush to catch a couple of hours then nail it!

You can go off folk! ?

Nice one. Great report as always. (y)

Ian.

Twice lately had them Gawping arseholes holding A 303 up! 7.am sat morning traffic was back for miles had shitenav(Google flaps) on saw red red and more red along 303 so turned off down towards Salisbury then along below 303. For some reason they all stop by cameras on single lane bit yet it's 60mph!

I nearly did the same but figured it wouldn’t be any quicker, I’m not so sure after that, it was torturous!!

With the admission charge being £21.10 each plus parking, little wonder folks gawp for free!
