The last two mornings I have tried without success to catch a bass on the fly.
Opening the curtains at 3,30 this morning I new it was not a morning for fly fishing.
Instead, I grabbed a bass rod, small fixed spool loaded with braid and a couple of 2/0 pennell rigs and 3oz leads.
Owing to the early start, bait would be frozen black lug. I would have preferred fresh outs but I did not have any, so tough!
Arriving at a wet and windy beach, I quickly set up and cast out into the surf. Conditions looked good for a bass or two. A few casts later and with my bait untouched I was beginning to wonder if staying in bed was a better option!
2 biteless hours later another squall blew through and I admitted defeat.
