Have you been before? What sort of fishing will you be doing?
Fishing inside the river and moving all the way down to either pier (if you're mobile) will give you lots of options. Many people prefer the piers at either side but im sure the beach is worth a fish too, albeit probably a bit shallower

never been before, I just fancied a couple hours after work so just basic setup, single rod and simple rigs, having looked at the maps I think the pier by the pavilion is the most convenient for me.

It's a good spot. Plenty of wrasse usually - corkwing straight down the sides, ballans further out. Plenty of minis - tompots, gobies, etc too. Should be some gar still around too ?
Tight lines..
(Might be a bit chilly on there so wrap up)

cheers FYC, will post a report if I go.

Fished the stone pier last Thursday. Had 9 or 10 species, ballan and corkwing wrasse, pout, rock goby, pollack, herring, whiting, mackerel (7) and gar (5 lost a few) fish. Mostly small (species hunting) except the mackerel and gar. Saw a place come in as well. Should do a report I suppose.
