Good report mate, well done on getting a few. I had similar problems fishing a mark in the Solent, the pouting would all float on the return, I was told it’s where the swim bladders expand with the changing depth. One angler on this mark used to prick the swollen swim bladder with a hypodermic needle to release the air and then they could dive again? I never tried it. I just tried to reel slowly and steadily which helped, the few that did expand I’d put back, some recovered, several were eaten by bass off the surface, especially at night!! I had my PB bass freelining a floating pout right by my feet after dark, big old bass came up and nailed it like a carp! Went 11lb.
