It's so much fun playing fish on ultra-light rods. I picked up a few fish the other night on a 5g rated LRF rod, as you can see by the size of the net, I was planning for a smaller stamp of fish. The tearing of line off his reel was exhilarating, to say the least. It was quite some work manipulating the pollock of 2lb 2oz and a new LRF PB of 3lb 3oz into the small drop net from 20ft up in a turbulent sea (my previous LRF PB was a Coalfish of 2-7 from Norway, curiously on the same lure). I also picked up squid & scad during an eventful 3 hour session in a brisk easterly wind.
