The idea was to lure fish a local mark, (Keep it local boys and girls) but to hedge my bets, l took a couple of beach casters. I sent these out with 3 hook flappers, one with small size 6 hooks and pop ups and one with size 1 hooks, both baited with far from fresh rag. It was raining and did so for the whole session, it was warm though with my gear on.

Picked up the lure rod and sent it out. Had a few retrieves, but was just not feeling it! I was watching the bait rods and could see some action on one. Lure rod down and picked up the bait rod. Wound down, lifted and fish on. First fish in was a nice bass of 1 1/2 lb. Nice start.

This was followed by another couple smaller ones Picked up the lure rod again and still not feeling it and the baits rods are still busy with two bigger fish coming in. Got a wind knot now on the lure rod so took it back to my tackle box to sort it.

A few more smaller ones came on .

Then this came in.

I cut my braid and put the clip on ready to lure again, but the bass kept coming!

Decided to give it a proper go on the lure rod, but nothing doing and l know there are fish there! 3 hours and it's still raining so decided to pack up and go home. That was after pulling the rods in to another 2 bass 1 on each rod!

Had a count up, as l was updating my fishing friends with catches as l went along. 13 bass and some nice ones as well. Despite the weather that was a top session.

Next time will be lures and no distractions from my bait rods- not!

I have got teeth, you just can't see them in the blurry wet pictures!

Well done kieth, I was so chuffed for you as you started to increase your talley fish by fish. Huge effort mate.

Keep with the lures, they are there, we both know that, bait will always win in the cold water, but the lures will work.

Absolute top angling and report.
Tight lines.
