I have been using sakuma nite crystal 25lb bs 0.435 diameter. anybody out there using same bs with lower diameter. ?
i know most of you will be using braid. but i prefer nylon. The tackle shops in my area are pretty limited on nylon
D.S.J.

Varivas Sport and Suffix Tritaniun are the two nylon monos I trust on casting reels, with Momoi on boat reels. Nitecrystal I tried once but found it soft and very stretchy.
I like the varivas although a thin diameter - usually desirable I know but I bought some 30lb for wrassing because I wanted a thicker diameter to resist abrasion and it was more like 20lb thickness when it arrived.
I’d say the strength was as stated but the barnacles and kelp didn’t care about that…

Suffix tritanium.
Way better than snapkuma shite crystal.

Or, though thicker but very reliable, daiwa sensor.

The OP states he's looking for lower diameter hence those recommendations mate.

For serious abrasion resistance try the 'hard' monos from the likes of Momoi, Ande and Mason, unfortunately not that easy to find in the UK at present but definitely worth hunting down if you want the best👍

Oh yes so he did, in that case the varivas sport should fit the bill? It was the red one I had.

Tbh the amount that gets shredded in wrasse fishing, I prefer to just go with cheaper thicker lines.
Sensor was always a reasonable option.

I realise I could just go with mega braid straight through but I never really liked how braid performs and use multis in any case, though for lobbing wrasse baits out I don’t suppose that would matter.

Might try it on one reel at some point, just to see…

Probably have comments but I’ve been using the trabbuco master cast in yellow .35 diameter up the bc and and can’t fault it tough as but casts and sits well on my multiplier’s.
Not tried that one, will keep an eye out for it.

Tbh I’ve used some ‘budget’ lines that were better than the top of the line stuff, and vice versa.

No pun intended…

Just checked and my Suffix Tritanium 24lb is .400mm………for comparison. Have only used it on my boat reel so cannot comment on cast ability.

Casts fine.
It's my standard Norwegian shore line and my standard UK up-tide line.
Loaded onto penn fathom 15s or avet 5.3mc's

It’s not cheap but 3 /4 fill ups per spool the .35 is rated 34lb bs so can take a bit of stick I’ve used it out on the reefs this year and had no issues.

I use any nylon I can find cheap, in the 25 to 30lb breaking strain. Use it on the bristol channel, loaded on a SLOSH 30. Coupled with bendy hooks and a rotten bottom, very rarely lose any kit, even in the worse ground the channel can offer.

Slightly off track but only ever used Sakuma nite crystal in 18lb and twenty five for mixed and clean and stopped using it when started exclusively fishing the rough. Only used suffix tritanium 37lb which casted great on Penn trq100 and Penn 535 and tough
Though hard to brake out with if not rotten snagged with maybe ten or twelve steps at times and hard on the back on slippy rocks.
Loved it, but when braid came to town a game changer for the rough though hate it but cannot ignore the advantages for breaking out at night etc. edit, was late to the braid party 😂

Asso Ultra Cast do 25lb in 0.40, so slightly thinner. I use the 16lb 0.32 myself, and Varivas 15lb 0.35. (y)

That line is the dogs bollocks. A well known chesil beach angler put me onto it and I use it when I fish the canaries. Supple, smooth and tough as you like. I’ve got the .405mm on my reels and it breaks at something like 44lbs.

I've still got a lifetime supply of Sylcast & Penn long distance surf, 15lb & 18lb in unopened boxes 😁
