Having pumped some lugworm last night, my wife and I decided to head down the beach and chuck them back in with hooks attached. So with wife and dog in tow, we got to the beach an hour before low water and launched two rods into the surf. There was a nice chop on but the weed was building, having cast 2x 2 hooked clipped down rigs into the sea, we sat back and awaited events to unfold. Watching the water, I realised that there was a large sandbank between me and my baited hooks, that seagulls were parading up and down on, which didn’t fill me with confidence! The wife said that it would hold bass, and with that I had a slack liner on the left hand rod. Reeling in was a nightmare with the weed, but a bass was soon splashing through the surf towards me. After popping the hook out and letting him go, I waded through the gully onto the sandbank to recast both rods. Another slack liner on the left hand rod produced an eel on the next cast. After 3hrs, I called it a day as the weed was getting worse and headed off home.
