23.9.22 Hurst.
was going to go back to chesil but was contacted by pete asking about the shingle bank, and a quick check of tides looked like it would be ok tonight. tide cycle and moon phase seem off for some reason.
fished 2100 - 0530.
baits - black lug. squid, sandeel & prawn, all froze bar tesco's finest prawn.
rigs, - flowing trace, upnover, pulley.
tide, h/w, about 10pm
just a thin sliver of moon rose about 4am id guess sea was flat calm and clear. wind was behind me enableing big casts if needed, i had a slosh out as was expecting to be hauling something heavy ( weed). little weed ( for hurst) cloud cover to start but clear skys by finish.
lots of camper vans parked up & i expected the beach to be busy but there were only two other angler i could see set up between the bridge & the corner. spoke with both but like i they were pretty much just starting.
pitched up near enough the usual spot, and heaved out a pully rig baited with lug and prawn on a single 2/0 chinu. and some blinged size 2's on a flowing trace with squid/sandeel.
tide pull was quiet as tide was just topping out, , i saw a fiddley little enquirey which i left to develop which it didn't gave it a few minutes & retrieved to find my first codling of the year. target 1,- 1st cast. like most reported this year just a small one ,but hampshire coddies worth double points.
now for target two. flowing trace got swopped for an upnover with big nasty 6/0's looking for an undulate. the tide turned an ran hard from l-right as it eased i caught first a bream then a dogfish.

very dark night & nothing else worth photographing
fished hard through till the early flood pushed me off the beach, just 3 fish in 9 hours but i got my codling they should be an easy find this year if only fishfingers.
