    Rigs/Traces/Tangles

Use these, tie 2 on opposite sides of the looped around rig, also cut each twist tie in half and get double your money :) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334576224486?var=543672293681

    Best bream rig?

Use a 2 hook clip down and add a yellow to the top hook and a red to the bottom hook. Seems to work well. Fluorocarbon snoods do make a big difference in the clear water. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005854903497.html

    Impact shield

yup that pretty much what I do, similar to the surgeons knot. (y)

    Impact shield

never had any problems - but i am using heavy lines and not thin breaking strains. I have tried to snap it using 80lb mono knotted like that and cannot break it, and it is a loop being knotted not a single piece of line.

    Impact shield

Yup that's the one - was shown to me by some Welsh Anglers many years ago. I use a smaller loop for the bottom hook and longer lop for the sliding hook. Main reason is that you have double thickness of line if something very big takes the bait so more chance of landing it (y) Oh and as I...

    Impact shield

i use them for very rough ground fishing where I need a home made lead lift on the line so the rig does not get snagged up. As they sit on the line as opposed to being tied to it, they are perfect for what I need 👍

I will give the Scottoiler FS 365 a go bud - thanks for the link. (y)

    South Coast 2025, the start

Did you walk down the road from Abbo car park or has the screaming lady at the cottages quietened down so you can drive down again? :)

    Mackrel feathers which ones

Sadly no profit in feathers. I do occasionally tie long range versions for some of my big casting friends with 100lb rig bodies and only 3 feathers - they can whack them out to close on 200 yards but buggered if I wish to reel in mackerel from that distance :)

A reflection from fishing this year, what are your targets for the next?

Luckily the rash was on my chest and not my face or near my eyes - one of my friends also had it and currently still has eye problems. This is why I have not posted much here - I actually was feeling my age and not the 35 year old I think I am inside :)

A reflection from fishing this year, what are your targets for the next?

Apologies for nicking this off my Seaswest FB page from yesterday but i could not be arsed to type something similar out again :) 'The fishing in 2024 started well with me putting in one or 2 trips a week. However, in early June I fell victim to the dreaded Shingles - which I would not wish...

    Chinese circle hooks.

90% of the circles you see being sold online are made in the Far East and as Cwab said above most hooks are rebranded.

    Rig building

My only advice is that if you ever have a thought drift into your head that it may be an idea to sell a few rigs, give yourself a slap before your home looks like this :)

    South Coast chesil.3/10/24

I see that there were a number of rogue waves over the past few day, some washing away rods and kit that were 10 - 15ft above normal wave height at abbotsbury . Just be careful and never turn your back on the sea!

    Hoodies and joggers.

I have no idea why people ponce around as advertising boards for an angling brand, though saying that, I wear these when I go fishing around Brighton and I make lots of new friends... :)

Thanks for the report - I will wait a couple more weeks until the 'cod fever' fades a bit and start my conngering down there. What people watching the vidoes do not realise is that a lot of the cod catches on the vids are coming from the langton/moonfleet area where people paddle across in boats...

Looking for advice on rig making and first venue to fish.

My advice for this evening is to use these CJT power swivels on your rigs. They have never, ever let me down. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2323012.m570.l1313&_nkw=cjt+power+swivels&_sacat=0 ... and here I am in a recent pic in full male catalogue model pose to show...

    South Coast 18.08.24 chesil

if you are trying for the Bream and general day fish in clear chesil water, try this 100% Fluorocarbon Trace line - best I have ever used. 15lb for the bream and 20lb for clip downs and flapper. It is not cheap but will often make the difference between a blank and fish...
