    South Coast Shoreham 04/04

As the title suggests I headed to shoreham after work yesterday. I fished 1 up and 3 down in the hope of a plaice. I fished a couple of hundred yards away from the west arm in the hope of a bit of shelter from the easterly wind which as the session went on turned north east. I fished 2 hook...

    South Coast Highcliff 12/02

First post in a good while for me but as title suggests I headed to highcliff in Dorset for an evening session. I'd seen a report of a Ray being caught at the weekend and with other reports suggesting many parts of the south coast fishing slowly i thought I'd try for myself. Went to the local...

South Coast Hampshire marks for December?

If its If its any good to you, I fished Eastney last night. It was a whiting and dog fest. Baits uses were, black lug, razors, squid and mackerel, on there own and in cocktails and the whiting mainly devoured it all. Went through 30 blacks, 10 razors, pack of squid and a whole mackerel. I'm...

South Coast Hampshire marks for December?

Milford shingle bank on the smaller tides could be OK, fish an hour before high and down to low especiallyif the hours coincide with darkness. As already mentioned, Eastney and Selsey or Hayling island as that fishes OK on smaller tides. As for Rays, there's been a few coming from southbourne...

    South Coast The big beach

I was on holiday down there last week and abbotsbury hill was closed most of last week, not sure if works are completed though. There were also signs up saying the road into Abbotsbury from portesham would be closed this week. As for the A35, only signs I saw were for overnight closeures between...

    Hayling Island

Ive fished hayling 4 times in the last month and been doing ok, though its definitely slowed up the last 2 weekends. Myself and a mate fished last night . We had half a dozen small bream, a doggy, a strap , 3 hounds to 7lb and dropped another hound. 90% of the hounds I've had during the last 4...

South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

Just to say I emailed the MMO yesterday and recieved a reply, not that I was expecting one. The lady said that this boat wasn't doing anything wrong as such other than being selfish I guess. That said she did leave me a mobile number so that any incidents/issues anglers have then it cab be...

South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

They probably make that in a week or less, no deterrent. Stop them fishing for a month or more.

South Coast Cogden, I would stay well clear!

He certainly wasn't targeting whelks last year down there in September when i saw he was unloading basket fulls of sole, plaice etc . I've seen him setting his nets in the past and I'm no commercial fisherman but I thought you used pots for whelks. This is what the boat was originally doing...

    Advice New fixed spool reels

Got to use my new reels last night and agree with everything you've said here. So much lighter, smoother and the casting was effortless (not that I'm a big caster) but minimal effort and the line just flies off the reel. You said in a previous post that I "won't be disappointed " and I'm...

    Advice New fixed spool reels

Well I bit the bullet and got a pair of these. I guess the proof will be in the pudding when I get to use them. First thing I noticed though is how much lighter they are than my penn's. If they perform as well as they feel and look then should be money well spent in my eyes.

    Advice New fixed spool reels

Cheers for the heads up. Black Friday tomorrow so I'll have a look about though I have noticed that some reels in a few shops have gone up in the last 3 weeks ,no doubt to be reduced back to the previous price of 3 weeks ago thus saving bugger all.

    Advice New fixed spool reels

No worries. If all the replies had been different reel options my brain would be fried but its just banter so I can deal with that 🤣

    Advice New fixed spool reels

I only fish along the south coast so no rough ground or from heights so power aeros seems to be the choice from the replies, cheers.

    Advice New fixed spool reels

So as the title suggests, I'm in the market for a pair of new reels. I've only ever used fixed spools so definitely sticking with them. I've used nearly all the daiwa range from my carp fishing days and of late the penn affinities both for carp and beach. I'm now looking at the shimano range...
