But if this is madness, then I'm filled with gladness.
I'm about
to explain
That this cod angler is loosing his brain
Madness madness they call it madness
After the storm.
I had to.
It would be foolish not to try.
Off to Dungeness point .
Arrived an hour after high, rushed over to the beach and...
Fished the point at Dungeness today.
8,45am to 2,30pm. High water at 11ish
Lots and lots of weed making keeping a bait in the water for more than 5 minutes impossible. Not that you needed to.
Fished 3 hook clipped rigs, and I doubt that more than a couple of times I didn't have a triple shot of...
Just got back from the beach.
Bait was 12 day old lug.
3 hook flappers, #2 hooks.
Sea rats and dogs.
Lots of dogs.
Jax even managed a triple shot of dogs.
We gave up after a while.
Dogging is hard work 😜
Very quick session over the road at Taylor rd car park.
Tiny tide that didn't really make it onto the shingle from the mud.
Just an hour's fishing with black lug.
No bites
No fish
But a nice way to unwind from a days work.
Just a couple of hours over low last night.
Screaming ebb tide and lots of weed.
Dead low, weed and tide disappeared.
1 small bass
1 dogfish
1 dab
3 whiting
Winds gone east now so kiss of death.
Back to DIY and possibly project Noel.
Not much to report.
Few hours locally.
3 dogs and 6 spiky sea rats.
Hi light was firing up the lantern, not been used for at least 6 years. Same fuel that was left in it.
Fired up first time 😀
Fished Prince's parade , Hythe, this evening.
Baits were bluey, frozen blacks and squid.
Had 14 dogs
7 sea rats
1 dab
Wind was far less than forecast.
Rain was considerably more.
Musto bottoms leaked.
Should have worn my GC's.
Hello plastic, metal and latex fetishist's.
😉😁
After a new reel for Jax.
Her diawa sweepfire (?) Has developed an alarming handle wobble.
After something sub £100 that will hold 150yds of 20lb braid and cope with working lead heads of upto 100g and cranking cods over rough kelpy ground.
Ideally...
Ok, this is probably a really dumb question, but....
What direction of the mag control increases or decreases the braking effect?
Clockwise says more and anticlockwise says less.
But, is that less or more breaking or less or more spool speed?
Sorry to be so dumb but I only use nobby or slidy...
Fished the end of the power station concrete rd at Dungeness this afternoon with Jax.
Just the one rod each, Jax using a zziplex v Max F1 and penn fathom 12 , myself, a daiwa Moonraker supreme and daiwa 7600.
Rigs were size 1, 2 hook flappers.
Bait was frozen black lug.
Fish were caught at all...
Hello.
One is after some information.
If I was to venture to Scotland (I've put west coast as you have to use a prefix 🙄)instead of Norway for a week's fishing, where would you recommend?
As Jax would be joining me, easy access marks would be preferable and target species would be cod, haddock...
Wednesday night:
Perfect tide
Perfect weather pattern
Perfect bait
I took the walk to my favourite ever cod mark full of excitement and anticipation.
Plan executed with a live bait rig on rod 1 and 4/0 pennell on rod 2.
Baits for both were wrapped blacks, pumped Sunday evening.
Needless to say...
Just a quick round up of the last few sessions.
Saturday: boils: freezing cold: 3 hook rigs with lug: blanked
Monday: point: pleasant: 6/0 pennell huge lug and cuttlefish baits: whiting and dogs.
Tuesday: point: cold: 3 hook rigs with lug: whiting and dogs.
Tonight: power station concrete rd...
Hi everybody!
I've gone all retro.
Does anyone know where I can get a screw in butt guide for a Brent 12ft surf caster?
Thread size looks like m4 but I'm guessing it will be an imperial equivalent.
Thank you 👍
Last week Darren and I decided to have a try for a sole at a local shallow low water mark.
This was after an unsuccessful attempt at galloways the previous weekend where we were attacked by killer whiting.
Well, we failed.
The whiting were there in their millions.
To prove a point, I waded 5...
