I managed my first proper session of the year on Friday as we had some decent conditions, finally.
I used my new 85mm Slim Sticks on the Texas rig and managed around a dozen, with this one being the best.
We had some strong south westerly winds forecast Friday morning, so I stayed away from the rocks and went to a local harbour where the winds would be coming from behind me, making things a little easier. I managed to land 12, lose another 4 and miss 5 or 6. All fish took my 85mm Wrasse Stick in...
This wrasse, at 5lb 5oz, was the best of a 32 fish haul yesterday morning out on a mark I’ve not been to for around three months. I also missed / lost another 20 odd. All fish took the new 85mm Wrasse Stick in either black, brown or watermelon on the Texas rig with a 5g cone weight from both...
Went down to the harbour this morning with a mate in search of wrasse. It was tricky with the easterlies, but he was more than happy with this guy.
find the next gas station
This was the best wrasse of around 20 yesterday morning, which came from the narrow gulley behind me in around 1.5m of water. As well as taking a few fish from different gullies, I also managed several wrasse from areas of rough ground several yards out. All fish fell to either a Ned or Senko in...
I had to head to a sheltered rock mark on Friday morning to escape the gusty north westerly winds and to try to get some relief from the swells. I tucked myself away and spent some time working a couple of deep gullies with the Lugger Ned on the Texas rig. I didn’t catch anything special, but...
I went back to the new mark that I found a couple of weeks ago yesterday morning to see how it would fish on high, after catching 25 or so last week on low. The problem with high tide is that quite often you’re limited on where you can fish, as most other areas are cut off until the tide...
After finding a new mark last week, quite by chance to be honest, I thought I’d go back yesterday morning on low so I could see its make up and give it a good fish during the flood. I targeted a few areas out to sea before dropping into the gullies around 3 hours before high. I ended the session...
I’ve had a good morning doing a spot of filming with Rob Hughes for his TV show. We managed several fish between us, which is always good when the pressure to catch is on.
The strong winds and swells kept me away from the rocks this morning, so to a local river I went, armed with a white loaf and a float. One take, one fish.
I had 4 hits this morning and managed to net 3 of them, all on the Ned on the Texas rig. A couple were quite small, but I did manage to extract a 5lb 3oz from it’s rocky lair.
Hi folks. After a break, I’m back on the forum. It’s taken a while, I lost my log in details so Mike had to re-set it.
Instead of trying to find shelter on Friday morning on a rock mark, I decided to head to a local harbour, knowing the westerly wind would be blowing pretty much from behind me...
Not sure if anybody is interested, but I’ve just started a wrasse fishing YouTube channel. It’ll be more instructional rather than me just fishing every week. Thanks
Plan changed, decided to scrap YouTube
It was nice to put the first fish of the year in the net yesterday morning. Although only small, with the conditions consisting of strong winds, murky water and a big swell, I was more than happy to just catch. As in recent weeks, a 3” ned on the Texas rig did the business.
