South Coast Best birthday session ever. Big Dorset bream and a starry night photo shoot.

Cracking bream but very sorry to hear about your mate 😢

    Advice Tip tape?

I like the thick hex pattern tape that looks grey in daylight, don’t think I’ve ever used Mighty Bright but I know it’s highly rated. It seems to come from various brands but the last one I had was Sakuma. Way overpriced but I grabbed it in a shop when I needed some. I may be the odd one out...

    Chesil 1/12

Well, fair pay if that’s their escape, we all head off somewhere to think and get away from things occasionally. Camping on Chesil isn’t my cup of tea but people don’t have to drink it 😌

    It's happening.

    Yes 😭😭😭😭

Anyone still catch shore plaice in Cornwall?

Both can fuck off quite frankly

    It's happening.

Yep, do love them filling the lay-bys at night then getting parking banned, but hey ho 🙄 No offence intended for the OP but camper vans aren’t the most popular visitors around here…

    Chesil 1/12

Indeed. I’ve got the contacts but it’s not always feasible to fish when completely ideal, as you know. Tbh more than eight hours these days is too much for me so I’d rather do a six hour sesh even with the drive than be down there 12-16 hours and just get too tired/burnt out. Kipping on the...

    Chesil 1/12

kind of stating the obvious but it’s also the kind of mark that produces for those who are either local and can target the right windows or at least make a lot of trips there. Unless you have the local knowledge or are shown where to go, for many of us it’s a lottery suck it and see approach. It...

    Sole

In my experience of the Bristol Channel, November is about the cut off though I’ve heard of the odd fish in December. Then forget about it until June, though May is a possibility for sure. As Oldie Goldie says, the pest fish come ashore in huge numbers and impale themselves on a worm bait...

Well done for getting out - did think it would be blown off down there today but people seemed to manage to fish it. Sorry to hear the fishing was naff though 😢

    What a waste..

I personally think angling needs to look at minimising these sorts of events, regardless of whatever the commercials are doing, two wrongs don’t make a right. But that said I appreciate the alternatives aren’t always feasible for every location.

    What a waste..

I prefer best specimen or best brace but I realise in some areas it might not be feasible. At a club level our sea specimen comps are C&R now but again that’s a small group who know and trust each other, it wouldn’t work in open comps

    Uneasiness

Yes I see it here in the summer with stand up paddle boards, dad paddling and kid sat on the board. Sometimes with a life vest, sometimes not. Open sea, Bristol Channel tidal range, what could go wrong? 🙄 A couple of times I’ve been on the verge of calling the coastguard for people, but they’ve...

That and the fact I haven’t fished for them this year 🙄😂😂
  17. Mr Fish

    Uneasiness

I know it pretty well but wouldn’t fish it at night simply because it ups the risk level and given its remoteness there’s unlikely to be anyone else for miles after dark. Bad enough in day light. I doubt I’ll fish it again, simply because the body wouldn’t take it these days. It’s also a LOT of...

    Uneasiness

Oh I agree. As I said, I’ve taken risks fishing that were a bit silly in hindsight although I try to learn from them. There’s always the ‘you could slip on a rock and break something’ scenario but really that’s a standard risk that goes with the territory. The alternative is never fish on rocks...

    Uneasiness

It’s OT from ghosts so I won’t labour it too much but are you familiar with Selworthy @blakdog is back ? North Somerset mark, very high scree cliff, accessible for about four hours and you scramble down the steep shillet using ropes. I wouldn’t fish it now but years ago went down there and a...
