    New reel needed.

Prefer this to the Stella, my original is still going well after twenty plus years of summer use.

    Akios nitron F15 xp.

Yeah , ordered a pair of fathom cs after all the praise for them on line bar the mag adjuster which I could live with being a low reel caster I hold the rod further up for it not to be an issue. Was surprised when they arrived at the amount of backlash in the gearing so opened one up for a look...

    Akios nitron F15 xp.

I've had the akios 666 shuttles which good but wanted a little smaller for 12lb line on a bass/fatty rod, will look at the 5000 size akios . Cheers.

    Akios nitron F15 xp.

What I'm looking for is a multiplier the size of the Abu 6500 but built to last that can take some abuse. Not sure such a reel exists not seen the Penn's in the 22 size as can only find the 15's or bigger in local shops.

    Akios nitron F15 xp.

I've got a pair of fathom cs which are ok and saltist 30H's magged which are built to much higher tolerances, would like something 6500 or 5500 size but built to last. Been advised to look at the Penn fathom 300 low profile but no local shops have them.

Local shop was doing them for £45 no idea what they cost normally but they look ok for the money.

    Advice Daiwa 7 HT series.

Will grease the the screws as I do this on all my reels, being a tackle tart I do clean my gear after every use and even apply a coat of ceramic polish to my rods when new , maybe I should give the reels a coat as well.

    Advice Daiwa 7 HT series.

Picked a pair of blues yesterday , had a look at the ST's as well ,see how I get on with the blues but the finish on them doesn't appear particularly robust for such an expensive reel . How does the finish stand up to regular use on them and is the ST finish any better ?

    Advice Daiwa 7 HT series.

Price is all relative to what you get from it over time. My zziplex zf250's were well over twenty five years old when I sold them for a very good price. My saltwater fly rod even older and heavily used when I finally broke it so paid a lot to replace that and a reel. Still have an original 7 HT...

    Advice Daiwa 7 HT series.

Which model I buy will only be used over clean ground as I have rough ground reels. Tempted to go for the ST's but can't find any deals on a pair currently, best I've found is £1070.

    Advice Daiwa 7 HT series.

Had the original 7ht ,how do the newer mag and supertuned versions compare and is the supertuned a user friendly model or more tournament orientated and worth the big price hike ? Can get the blue mag for £285 while the st cheapest I can find is £525.

    Match Fishing.

The old farts is mainly Worthing/ Shoreham area and was run by Mick Perfect and Tony fishes a few but he runs his own comps from the shop but most are Sunday morning four hour comp.

    Match Fishing.

I've watched a few matches now and will be using my TTSM rods as I'm comfortable using them with any casting style. Have a good supplier of bait but need to get to know the venues but will only learn them by fishing and watching others.

    Tapered leaders

I've used the daiwa tournament tapered leaders and thier tournament mono in 15lb on my 6500 size multipliers for over thirty years with no problems. Recently bought bigger reels, Penn fathom c/s and put the .40 mm tournament mono on them and cut six feet off the thin end of the leader so it is...

    Bristol channel.

A lot of local anglers appear to be using long rods and fixed spool reels with either braid or mono and I've seen a couple that were what I always thought were die hard zziplex fan switching to this for match fishing and I did consider giving it a go but I'm not sure about braid for abrasion...
