    Return To La Gomera

Thanks for all the kind remarks :) More of the same (hopefully on stand-up gear) and then try for one of the large Big Eye or even Bluefin Tunas that show out there ?

    Return to La Gomera

Sorry for the confusion gents. I wasn’t sure whether to post in the Boats or Worldwide section …… so I did both :)

    Return to La Gomera

28th August 2022. The day I finally completed my bucket list. A day I shall never forget. The story begins the day before. At 3am in the morning. That was the time I had to be up to get a shower, grab my cabin bag and rucksack and head to Birmingham Airport for the 5.55am flight to Tenerife. I...

    Advice Split ring pliers?

If you want a multi-tool, go for it. They aren’t as quick and easy to use as the Halco’s, but if you only change split rings once in a while, then why not. I use my Halco’s on everything from LRF size lures to heavy gauge stuff for hooks and pirks for Shetland, hence my preference. As for...

    Advice Split ring pliers?

Ah. No idea! Bought mine years ago. Can’t remember where from. Probably Rokmax. Maybe give them a call to see if they are expecting new stock? Alternatively, looks like there are a few in France https://www.pechextreme.com/en/split-ring-pliers/1800-halco-fish-ring-plier-9312612804046.html hth

    Advice Split ring pliers?

I’ve had both over the years. The ones above (and similar models) sound good, but I‘ve never changed a split-ring whilst out fishing. Ever. And the clippers round my neck are all I need to cut line and braid. The Halco design is much quicker and easier to use (google it and check out one of the...

    North Wales Finally!

    Advice Split ring pliers?

I’ve tried a few different brands over the years. Halco are my favourite by a country mile. Sooo easy to use.

After The Lord Mayor’s Show ….

Didn’t take many pictures mate. Too busy catching fish!

After The Lord Mayor’s Show ….

I hate this. Every year me, my son and two mates have a week in Shetland. Great Craic and sublime fishing. And then I get back to something like reality. Now, I know I should be grateful that I have a caravan in Wales and not everyone is fortunate enough to have their own boat. But really...

    North Wales A quick update.

Well done Andy. Great report as ever. Strange but my last 2 Bass were both under 1lb (guessing a couple of years old). Smallest I’ve seen for a few years. Are these the covid babes starting to show?

    Sea sickness

I tried Stugeron many years back. taking 2 a few hours before the trip just about worked, but made me drowsy. Not a great experience I then tried Kwells and they have been a revelation (for me). They have a different active ingredient to Stugeron, you take them 30 mins before boarding, they...

    Review Dongle

As already stated above, the dongle serves the same purpose as the bottom hook in a pennel set-up. The only reason I’d use one is if they’re significantly cheaper than the bottom hook!

    North Wales Back to Normal

As the Jubilee festivities subsided, the family returned back to the Midlands leaving just me, the Missus and the dog. A quick check on the wind forecast suggested it would be rude not to get back on the water again today. So I was up at 6am, walked the dog, grabbed a rod, reel and box of lures...

North Wales Beaten By the Grandson (Again)

For a variety of reasons, I’ve not managed to get a session afloat with my son and grandson for over a year now. With a forecast of flat calm seas, we put that right yesterday. We decided to keep it simple. No messy bait, just lure fishing for Bass was to be the order of the day. Nice and...

North Wales Too close for comfort.

There are thoughtless morons in all walks of life Andy, including amongst bass lure fishermen. Hopefully you’ve met your quota for the year :)

North Wales Far from the madding crowd.
