    And We’re Off

After a busy start to the year, I finally got out on the boat today. The plan was to target some inshore Bass on lures and then head over to another mark on the South Llyn coast for Bream and Tope. As I left Pwllheli marina I was greeted by a large pod of bottle-nose Dolphins, which is always...

    Jeez, I've just near fainted!

You should worry. I have subscribed to the Sunday Times Wine Club for many years. Back in the 90’s they used to run a “Rare Malts“ club that would send you a specially sourced rare malt whiskey, cask strength (typically 55-65 degrees proof) that was usually 20-30 years old for about £55 per...

    La Gomera 2021

I was fortunate to be able to retire from work three years ago at the grand old age of 58. The plan had been to settle in to my new life for a year and make a plan to clear off everything on my bucket list. So far as fishing is concerned, that meant one thing. I have always wanted to catch that...

General My Fishing Year Part 2

After the fish fest at the end of June in Shetland, it was back to my regular stomping grounds on and around the Lleyn. July is always a good month around here. I tend to target the Tope, Bream and Bass. However, it started slowly. Mid month the waters around my usual Bass marks were full of...

    General Shetland June 2021

I’ve only just realised that I didn’t take any pics of the Cod in 2021. Here’s a couple from 2020 to give you some idea of the stamp Of Cod, Coalfish and Pollack 35lb Cod 25lb Coalfish 35lb Cod, 20lb Coalfish and a 17lb Pollack ?

I guess so. The cost of living is definitely cheaper, plus (if you use the ferry rather than fly) you can bring your catch home.

Drinking and sleeping in equal measure :) To be fair, it’s over 200 miles from Aberdeen to Lerwick in Shetland, plus we have a brief stop-off at Kirkwall in Orkney.
