    Traces/Hooks

I cut the components from traces I have used once home, give them a rinse with freshwater with all my other gear. I'll use the swivels, beads and imps/links again, but the hooks I'll give a sharpen and use again if not bent. I dont use the line again and it goes into the bin. Same with...

    New Beach casting multiplier advice

If the option were available I would get the fathom 15sd and a bulk spool of line should be there or about £200. If that wasn't possible I would just get the casting special. The only real difference between the 2 reels is line capacity and the mag control knob. That's just my preference and...

    New Beach casting multiplier advice

I hear the fathom 15s are well liked- I have the casting specials and find them brilliant for my mixed ground fishing and can often find a bargain on them second hand. Spooled with 20lb they hold enough line if you were to snag up then there should be enough left to continue the session. If...

    South Wales Ogmore Deeps 11.01.25

First session of the new year- visited Ogmore again. High water was at 16:30, venue can be very popular so arrived early to secure a decent spot and was there by 10:15, tripod and rods setup just as everyone else started arriving, in total of around 16 anglers. First cast was at 12:00 The...

Advice Century tip tornado super match ld

Just what I wanted to hear, was hoping it would be a decent bass rod as well bit also cope if I wanted to use it on the cleaner grounds with a 5oz. Plan is to pair them with the fathom 12s and have a lightweight setup that should cope should I get into something a bit bigger 🤞

    Lubricants for Reel maintenance.

I sent a message to blackdog a few weeks back when looking for oil and grease for my penn multis. He was quick to respond with some choices, and I think the grease, drag grease and oil came to less than £10.

Brilliant- would be looking at the new graphex one if that would be the same?

Advice Century tip tornado super match ld

Has anyone used a TTSMLD who can offer some feedback on what the rod is like to use. Wanted to try and get one for clean beach/estuary use. Have heared there pretty good for hounds and well but not sure how true that is and what they would realistically be capable of

    West Wales Porthgain 27.12.24

Fished porthgain today- was meant to fish the quarry section but there were anglers already there so decided to fish a small harbour section not far away. Parked in the marina, walked up the pretty steep steps and across the hill to the mark. Weather was overcast cloud, no wind, no rain and...

Low profile Baitcasters for UK Sea Bass/Lure Fishing, (Curado DC)

I primarily lure fish for trout, perch and pike using bfs and baitcaster setups. All my reels are left handed, as I feel I can work the rod better right handed. I use a shimano calcutta conquest bfs paired with a majorcraft finetail glass for trout, and can use small soft plastics on a 1g-5g...

    Penn casting special

Can only second this- bought the dual handles from Russ and they totally change the way the reel feels- like a beefed up 7ht.

    Advice Dongle

When I make a dongle rig I make the dongles first- 80mm long with a 20mm loop tied in the end, overhand knot on other end pulled tight and blob tag with lighter, so 100mm in total. Normally use a 5ft pulley rig, so tie a bulk of the bodies leaving the snoods and hooks off. Attach said dongle...

A reflection from fishing this year, what are your targets for the next?

Try to commit to a session once a week and improve my casting. Other than that to keep the bait freezer stock up and the rig wallet full so I can go out at short notice and have no excuses. A 10lb cod would be nice, a 10lb+ Ray and a 20lb+ tope.

    South Wales Monknash 14.12.24

Yes the spooky woods. There were so many people walking it yesterday- seems like a very popular walking route and the car park was full when returning

    South Wales Monknash 14.12.24

Thanks! All his were caught on scratching rigs intended for whiting with a sliver of Mackrell on a size 1 hook. I am hoping to get something fitted in mid week. I would rather try my best and blank than stay at home wishing I was out 🤣🎣
