As an experiment & for a bit of a laugh I bought a cheap 3.6m Lineaeffe "Moon Walk" telescopic rod ....

Bought a Vigor one years ago, all my sea tackle had gone and i wanted to get a set to try with kids and it was the only sea reel he was doing in shop at home 99% course and trout shop. It lasted 3 casts and the bail arm departed from it.

As an experiment & for a bit of a laugh I bought a cheap 3.6m Lineaeffe "Moon Walk" telescopic rod ....

I fully agree that they are cheap. I own a couple of there reels, and to be honest if you are the kind of guy that picks your rods and reels up from shed, off into car and off on beach, do the job and put back. Rater than pay £100's for reels and rods they are far better value. For example for...

Would not even be bothered about asking the question on a £10 telescopic rod. I fish a river with grandson with a £3.50 kids telescopic set and can catch small trout and eels. Who cares what it is made of and operation!

    advice about boats.

I did not regret owning mine but a pita. The boat was on a drying out mooring and 70 miles from house or 10 from caravan. So you had 3 conditions that had to be right before you could use, weather, tide and being there. Then i never had tow bar on car and had to rely on daughters partner to tow...

    advice about boats.

Me too, i was laughed at by bloke on pier and given advice after buying boat. I knew i wanted one for the experience and fully glad i did but looking back would have been far cheaper and less hassle to book charter boat for trips.

    shock leaders

I just looked at knots for joining shot leader to main line and to rig. And what i saw was a one knot on line and then and then twisted shock leader knot. I would rather take my chance with straight through mono!

    Shock leader question

Never had a snap off. And never fish by anyone when bait fishing on beach, and do not cast that far out anyway. Thanks for your view.

Bit of help for me and my lad

Launch at Barmouth and you have a short tide time and have to cross the bar, should not be a problem with small rib. Never been from Porth harbour, but i think the same and it is far further to reach sea. If it was me just launching and going fishing in that area I would choose Cricieth and...
