    I know my mate got a 525 4 and was all pleased as he showed me his new reel. I said ‘err… you haven’t heard about the issues then?’ I think it lasted a few months 😬

    Agreed although if I’m fishing rough ground I use a rotten bottom which in my case is just a simple clip and 15lb weak link to the lead. That’s not to say on occasion the whole lot doesn’t get left out there, which I really hate, but the majority of the time I just lose the lead

    I assume it’s more about freshwater fishing? Might be wrong though. I have been known to purposely ejection (!) up to 15 leads a trip on rough marks 😳

    Yea, I was probably there 90 minutes or something but didn’t exactly have loads of time and obviously no frame of reference for that beach, the water just seemed thick with it. Not sure if it was actually Barmouth, it’s basically all the same beach isn’t it? Was near a static caravan park anyway 😂

    Did trying fishing, erm, might be Barmouth? In north wales once, looked a decent beach but the sea was full of eel grass, had to give up after a couple of casts

    That’s interesting. Mind you, we just have too many surfers and parking costs a fortune in the day so I don’t even try. Certainly when I’ve still been on a beach here after dawn, all the bites have dried up, but I try and avoid being out that late these days!

    Yep admittedly they’re not beaches I really know. Just rarely see decent reports on forums or Facebook, but then as you say, sensible people keep decent catches quiet, or at least the location. Never bother with YouTube vids really, not my cup of tea.

    Depends where you fish, as I said. I invite anyone to stand on one of my local surf beaches in daytime and catch a ray, you’ll have a fair wait. Plenty of sport with rubber seals though 🙄
