    Speed

Yes I'm no expert just a holiday charter and was mostly pollack indeed, we were just drifting , we were all slowly cranking but only occasional hits. In 4 hours only half a dozen fish came over, I hadn't considered the drift speed variable plus the retrieve makes for a fast retrieve but then...

    Speed

I've been on a couple of 4 hr reef fishing trips and although I've not blanked it's been a close shave and Im wondering what is the ideal speed of retrieve as I thought I was retrieving slowly but I was told it was still too fast. I admit I did hook up under instruction to slow down and I was...

Fishing haunts from Wadebridge Cornwall in March

Anywhere along the beach from there towards padstow is good. If a flooding tide don't leave it late you will get cut off so make sure you can escape. I just wander along casting smaller metals, always catch something, can be a bit weedy so you have to accept that can cause issues .

Fishing haunts from Wadebridge Cornwall in March

I've found spinning the smaller savagear seekers at low tide in the estuary is very effective, I've had school bass, launce, mackerel and even a sea trout while spinning off the beaches into the channel between chidddleypump's and St George's cove..just on the padstow side of the estuary but...

    Hand warmers

£9.99 on Amazon . Got a pair of rechargeable hand warmers, scalable warmth settings. Dead handy for winter anglers . A pair of these in your pockets will revive cold hands. We used to dip our hands in the sea at dungeness to warm them . Because it was -5 on the beach and the sea was 10° or more...

    Renaissance Lazy lures

Well at least it's south Cornwall this time ( Sept) and the coast is a bit more sedate, the north coast is flipping wild and keeps trying to kill me every time I go. , last time the coastguard sent someone out to tell me to get off the rocks despite me wearing a life vest and taking time to...

    Renaissance Lazy lures

I'll be trying out some renaissance lazy lures on my next trip down the southwest, just wondering if anyone has used them yet , as they're very new to the market and have a very lifelike action , these don't wiggle tails like all other soft plastics, they swim in a very lifelike way due to the...
