    Surf Casting Reels

I'm an idiot - I should be having a look at the parts numbers and contacting Penn! Like you say the Slammer has them, in fact the Clash has an all black one - that is a good looking knob (no pun intended I swear) https://www.veals.co.uk/product/penn-clash-ii-claii5000/ Penn EU will hopefully...

I hope so! I'll keep looking... For example, this Gomexus option exits BUT they point out it's not compatible with the LCEU models (Long Cast EU) https://www.veals.co.uk/product/gomexus-power-handle-for-penn-battle-spinfisher-slammer/

Yeah I too was impressed by the sealing - I'll be using the reels on Friday for the first time and looking forward to seeing how the drag behaves. Coincidentally VMO have a YouTube unboxing (and use) review and I think they say something like "...the Tidal XT is similar to a Shimano of twice...

I haven't spoken to him(?) but having a look at the website there doesn't seem to be any Penn related knobs, unless if he does custom orders in which case I suspect it'll be $$$. My hopes are low, there's plenty of Daiwa and Shimano knobs on the market BUT nothing for Penn. Its shaft is similar...

What convinced you to get them in the first place?

    Surf Casting Reels

I'm not sure...there's plenty of fitting info online for Shimano A and B shafts, and for Daiwa S and L shafts, but I haven't come across anything for Penn shafts...

    Surf Casting Reels

UPDATE: super quick delivery...reels arrived the next day! I've just spooled them up and I'm grateful they came with line reducers because I only need ~200m (hence why I was after the 7000 instead of the 8000). My initial thoughts are they're pretty nice! HOWEVER I like my knobs spherical so...

    Ultimate fixed spool reel

So earlier this week I bought a pair of Penn Tidal XT and they seem pretty good for the money although tolerances are a tad slack. I'm really curious about some of the Shimanos, like the Bullseye and Power Aeros, I would hope the higher price would equal tighter tolerances. The Saltiga for...

The Stellas and Saltigas are just over £1k so would you say £500 is mid priced? P.S. I made the mistake of holding a Saltiga and since then everything else seems lame 😒

I was happy to go for the 7000 because I don't need the line capacity but I wonder why he was advised the 8000 is "better"? The Penn website says the 7000 and 8000 have ratios of 4.8:1 and 4.3:1; is the latter better? Line retrieves are on par at 98 and 100cm.

Before contacting Daiwa Spain/France? For sure! It's a bit odd they haven't got back to my via email, I gave them the parts numbers and everything...I'll give it a few more day...either way I'm in no rush as the reels will arrive today :)
